Common Names: Blue Danio
Scientific Name: Danio kerri
Availability: At one time very common in the hobby, but at times they can be hard to find.
Origin: Thailand
Overview: This fish is an old-timer to the aquarium hobby. Easily mistaken for Danio sp. hikari, there are two color varieties of Danio kerri. The bluer or tradition one and a more yellow or new variety.
Compatiblity: Non-aggressive, they should not not be kept with any larger aggressive fish.
Feeding: Not a picky eater, they will eat almost anything offered. Like most of the other danios, they are surface feeders.
Sexing: The females are usually larger and more full bodied. The males are slightly smaller and slimmer.
Breeding: Another very easy to breed fish. Like most of the danios, the major problem is to prevent the adults from eating the eggs or the fry. |
